Audrey Stringer

Audrey is celebrated for her exceptional leadership of Geelong Rainbow. Supporters highlight that “As president of Geelong Rainbow, Audrey has brought the group through rocky moments into a promising new era. Under her leadership, Geelong rainbow now does fortnightly events and at least one larger event a month.” These events, especially the coffee catch-ups, are described as “a consistent beacon for Geelong’s Queer community.”

Her dedication is widely recognised: “She works tirelessly… and is the glue that holds the entire Geelong Rainbow community together,” opening her home, supporting members at all hours, and treating the committee like family. Audrey also advocates for the community, as “a voice to the local government on issues affecting Queer people in the City of Greater Geelong,” earning the respect of local politicians. She further contributes as “a disability support worker… a mentor and a figure to look up to for many.”

Her strengths are shaped by lived experience: “Audrey has a number of intersectional identities… neurodivergent, transgender, lives with disability, and she is a young mum,” using these identities to deepen her leadership and support.
