Chroma Zone

Chroma is celebrated for their fearless advocacy and leadership across Lutruwita and Naarm, where they have “constantly champion[ed] trans, nonbinary, disabled and queer artists and audiences.” As a performer and organiser, Chroma is recognised for creating spaces that prioritise safety, access, and radical self-expression within queer communities.

In 2025, Chroma launched their own show, COOKED, which “aims to highlight queer performers who don’t usually get a spot on classic lineups.” Though “still in its infancy,” COOKED is already “making a name for itself as a space for radical queer expression and acceptance,” reaching close to 200 audience members—many experiencing drag for the first time. The show is proudly non-for-profit, fully masked, free for mob, and reinvests funds into “keeping queer venues alive” and paying performers.

Chroma’s leadership is deeply shaped by lived experience. They are “proudly neurodivergent,” speaking openly about autism, ADHD, and depression, and “constantly walk the walk” by improving accessibility in their creative work. Alongside this, they dedicate significant time to mutual aid, volunteering with Transgender Victoria and donating performances through Drag Aid and Ecology Collective, which “have raised thousands of dollars for mutual aid fundraisers.” Through this work, Chroma has become “a trailblazing drag thing,” always loud in their support of non-binary performers and inclusive queer futures.

Description
I’m Chroma! A non-binary, neurodivergent drag performer and producer based in naarm. I’m a strong advocate for non binary and trans performers in queer spaces, having recently started my own independent production, COOKED. My goal is to platform trans, POC, disabled and other minority artists and give them the freedom of creative expression. I’m deeply passionate about my status as a drag thing, and I want to work tirelessly to platform other non-binary performers in a space where gender is still enforced quite strictly. Most of my work this year has been in mutual aid, with most of my performances being donated to help mutual aid events and fundraisers.
