Peer-Led LGBTQIAPN+ Mental Health & Wellbeing Initiative

MARCH 14th – LGBTQIAPN+ Mental Health
Awareness Day

The 314 Movement

  • March 14 is recognised as LGBTQIAPN+ Mental Health Awareness Day, through Euphoria Social’s 314 Movement.

    The day is:

    • community-led

    • flexible

    • grassroots

    • focused on visibility, reflection, and connection

Communities are encouraged to participate in ways that suit them — from small conversations to local events or sharing resources. It’s not about scale or spectacle. It’s about showing up for each other.

  • 3 in 4 LGBTQIA+ Australians have considered suicide.

1 in 2 trans and gender-diverse people have attempted suicide.

9 in 10 LGBTQIA+ young people have experienced hate or harassment.

  • The 314 Movement provides a free community listing platform for events that support LGBTQIAPN+ mental health and wellbeing.

    We amplify community-led initiatives.
We do not organise or manage listed events.

    Important

    • Listing does not equal endorsement.

    • Event organisers are responsible for safety, insurance and compliance.

    • The 314 Movement and Euphoria Social Group Inc are not liable for third-party events.

Introducing the 314 Check-In Tool for Mental Well-Being
Gemma Saunders has created a free video introducing the 314 Check-In Tool for Mental Well-Being here, designed for individuals, workplaces, schools, and local networks.

  • The 3-1-4 Check-In is simple and repeatable:

3 Gratitudes – Think or write three things you are thankful for today. They can be small. No need to spin them positively. This helps with grounding and awareness.

1 Support – Name one person, place, or resource you could reach out to. This reminds us we do not have to do everything alone.

4 Breaths – Take four slow, grounding breaths. In through the nose, out through the mouth. This helps calm and regulate your nervous system.

That’s it. No fixing, no analysing, no pressure to share.

  • Raffle Fundraiser Prizes

Since our first announcement, the 314 Movement Launch has grown — and we’re excited to share everything that’s been added to the program.

The day will be hosted by Milo Hartill. Nesquick be damned. Ovaltine move over. Milo is here to serve the only chocolate-flavoured treat you’ll ever need. Milo Hartill has been dubbed “Fitzroyalty,” building a reputation for commanding stages across the country with burlesque, dance and undeniable presence. From Sircuit’s Hey Henny to Poof Doof, Thursgay and Pride of our Footscray, Milo brings charisma and polish in equal measure. On the global stage, she co-hosted the opening ceremony of Sydney WorldPride 2023 alongside Kylie Minogue, Casey Donovan, Courtney Act and Charli XCX. Expect warmth, wit and high energy guiding us through the day.

We’re honoured to introduce our first confirmed speaker, Julie Jones. Julie is a mature-age trans woman who will share her personal journey through depression, suicide, ASD, coming out, and the importance of community-based services. Her story is deeply human — one of hardship, resilience, and the power of choosing life and community even in the darkest moments.

Joining the speaker lineup is Liz Quinn, a long-time leader in women’s sports administration and former AFLW Culture and Leadership Coach at the Richmond Football Club. She is also co-owner of The Aviary Hotel, home to The W Club — Australia’s only dedicated women’s sports bar. Liz brings insight into leadership, culture and creating inclusive spaces that last.

Join us on the day to hear Jamal Hakim speak. Jamal is an Australian entrepreneur, author, and former City of Melbourne Councillor, known for his work in governance, business strategy, and community leadership. Within the queer community, there can sometimes be biases and expectations — and not all of us fit the mould. Jamal will share his perspective on using his skills and leadership to create space for others, especially from a place of greater confidence and privilege. Arab visibility in queer spaces can be complex and limited. Jamal is proud to show up fully and give back in ways that foster belonging, representation and community for others navigating similar experiences.

Oscar will be speaking, sharing insights and lived experience with honesty and depth. Umeed Psychology will be running a workshop and hosting a stall, highlighting their initiatives The Third Place Up and Queer South Asians — programs dedicated to culturally safe, affirming community spaces.

Workshops are a central part of the day. LGBT+ Social Hub Melbourne will be running a Core Values workshop focused on understanding who we are and what matters most to us. When we’re clear on our values, we make decisions that align with the person we want to be. It’s practical, reflective and empowering.

To support the launch, Gemma Saunders is offering her Storytelling Mini Masterclass free of charge on 14 March and as an ongoing resource aligned to the 314 Movement. Through her work with teams, leaders and communities, Gemma has seen how powerful it is when someone has structure and support to share their story — and how isolating it can feel without it. Many people are asked to speak, advocate or represent community experiences without being given the tools to do so safely and effectively. This 30-minute course removes that barrier. It includes a 17-minute video on how to find, shape and share your story, a simple 3-page toolkit with prompts and techniques, and a 5-minute example story demonstrating the framework in action. This is her contribution to strengthening the “1 person” element of the 314 Movement through practical storytelling skills and deeper connection across community. Gratitude grounds us. Breath regulates us. Story connects us. And connection protects mental health.

Joti Gore will also be offering interactive wellness sessions throughout the event, including guided breathing techniques, meditation and a gentle no-mat yoga flow on the grass. These sessions are accessible and practical — tools that can support wellbeing long after the day ends.

Ashley Dell’Oro from Invictus Health will be leading a guided park walk through Edinburgh Gardens. This gentle walk offers space to pause, reflect and connect with the 314 practice while moving mindfully through the environment. It’s an opportunity to ground yourself and arrive fully.

Community organisations will also be present on the day. What Were You Wearing Australia will be hosting a stall, sharing information about their volunteer-led work supporting victim-survivors and ending sexual violence through healing groups, advocacy and education focused on consent and healthy relationships.

The Iceberg Foundation will also be joining us. As a community-led mental health organisation supporting people at the intersections of neurodivergence, queerness and global majority (BIPOC) experiences, their work centres collective healing, lived experience and anti-oppressive practice.

Adding to the energy of the afternoon, Craven Moorehead will be bringing live performance to the grass — bold, vibrant and full of presence.

For three hours on the day, we’ll be offering free haircuts thanks to Thatscissorgirl — a fade specialist, mullet enthusiast and all-round confidence builder. This is about more than a fresh cut. It’s about creating a space where people feel safe, seen and comfortable. Clean blends, sharp fades, and a chair where diversity, inclusivity and individuality are celebrated. If you’re in that chair, you’re family.

The 314 Movement Launch isn’t about big production. It’s grassroots and community-first. It’s about creating space — for stories, for healing, for connection.

Ticket Update
Our free Community Tickets have now been fully claimed.
The response has been incredible.

To ensure the sustainability of this event and allow us to continue offering peer-led, low-barrier spaces, we’ve released a limited number of paid ticket options. There will be no tickets available at the door, so registration is essential.

If cost is a barrier, please reach out. $0 and pay-what-you-feel options remain available because accessibility matters. We want everyone who wants to attend to be there.

The waitlist is now open. If additional tickets become available, those on the waitlist will be contacted first.

This isn’t about profit. It’s about keeping this space alive, accessible and safe for our community now and into the future.

A community picnic for everyday wellbeing

MARCH 14th

About 314

  • The 314 Movement is a peer-led mental health and wellbeing initiative for LGBTQIAPN+ communities.

    It focuses on:

    • connection

    • reflection

    • early support

    • reducing isolation

The Movement is based on the idea that small, everyday practices, when shared, can make a real difference to wellbeing.

314 helps people pause, check in, and connect — before things reach crisis point.

  • Hey, I’m Jess Trend. I’m proud to be apart of the LGBTQIA+ community and an ambassador for Euphoria Social, 314 MOVEMENT.

As a young adult, I struggled with my sexuality and faced significant anxiety and mental health challenges. I’m partnering with Euphoria to support the 314 MOVEMENT, a resource I wish I had when I was younger to help me cope.

As we continue to speak out and show support through initiatives like the 314 MOVEMENT, individuals will increasingly feel safer and more confident that they are not alone.

    LESSGO!

  • 3 in 4 LGBTQIA+ Australians have considered suicide.

1 in 2 trans and gender-diverse people have attempted suicide.

9 in 10 LGBTQIA+ young people have experienced hate or harassment.

  • LGBTQIAPN+ communities often experience:

    • higher rates of psychological distress

    • higher rates of suicide ideation

    • social isolation and stigma

    • barriers to mainstream mental health support

Much of the real support that exists is peer-to-peer, informal, and community-based.

    The 314 Movement exists to:

    • normalise checking in on mental wellbeing

    • reduce shame about talking about how we’re doing

    • encourage early help-seeking

    • strengthen peer connection and care

This is early support and prevention work, not crisis response.

  • The 314 Movement is not:

    • a crisis service

    • counselling or therapy

    • a clinical mental health program

    • a replacement for professional care

    It does not:

    • diagnose

    • treat

    • provide emergency intervention

We do not diagnose, treat or provide emergency intervention.

    If you need urgent support:

    • Lifeline – 13 11 14

    • 13YARN – 13 92 76

    • Emergency – 000

314 is about early support and prevention — not crisis response

  • Named in tribute to Lifeline Australia’s crisis support line (13 11 14), the 3-1-4 Movement honours the importance of crisis support while promoting daily rituals of care and connection.

  • The Movement centres LGBTQIAPN+ people and anyone who wants to use it.
